November 2007
A safe and joyful Thanksgiving to all! And here comes December, whether we are ready or not!
December 1st is the Special Call Meeting (Master Plan/Roads) and it is lining up to be a great meeting. We will have expert speakers to present the issues and answer any questions you may have. And so that you can better understand the Master Plan that everyone talks about, the Master Plan text as well as the Master Plan Project Manual have been posted on the website under documents. It is very important that everyone understand the facts of this plan. We want this to be a conclusive vote, so we can put this issue to bed, one way or the other.
December 9th is Operation Santa. Please come out for the fun of giving to those not as fortunate. Oyster Harbor has been the best at giving. Let's keep it up! More details about the project will follow.
The Anne Arundel County Sheriffs are now patrolling the neighborhood. If anyone has any comments or questions, please do not hesitate to write. I have heard of no additional problems, but please keep up the vigilance in keeping watch on your house and that of your neighbors.
Please keep your leaves out of the swales along the road. Now that we have lots of our swales cleaned out, we need to do our best to keep them clean. We will be having our landscaper clean them out three times this fall to assist in the process, but all the individual help is appreciated by all.
The initial study of the Community Center has begun! We will announce the findings as they come in.
I wish everyone the very best holidays.
Brooke

Thanks to many of you for turning out at the OHCA Election on September 25th. Please note our new Leadership elsewhere on our website. The commitment given to this community by these individuals is tremendous.
The first order of business has been the security of the community. As a community, let’s watch each other’s homes and property as well as our own.
Two of our biggest goals in the coming year are to
1) Bring all the properties in the community up to compliance with the Rules and Regulations, and
Joanie this year has committed her time as Board member as well as the Committee Chair for Community Property/Compliance. We have combined committees this year. Thank you Joanie, for taking all this on.
2) Do a feasibility study for the construction and operations of an OHCA Clubhouse and Pool. Keep your fingers crossed! And of course, many important projects are in process:
And continuing work includes:
-
Under the continuing leadership of Norm MacLeod, our drainage maintenance and repair continues. Many of the worst drainage area problems have been solved, but we know there are several to go. The crew is going very methodically through the list and the finishing care of the driveway aprons has been excellent. Norm and I are working directly with Walt Kinder from Anne Arundel County in completing this work.
-
Under the leadership of Joanie Stone, the Community Property Committee has accomplished a major upgrade at Fishing Creek Park. If you haven’t seen it, please go look. We have boat racks for kayaks, lasers, etc., picnic tables and a floating dock.
My motto is to reach for the stars and you will at least reach the moon. I look forward to receiving your calls and comments. Please don’t hesitate to call or email.
I look forward to great year in the community.
Brooke
