Flooding Relief Coming Soon
for Creek, Shore, and Washington Drives

OHCA has contracted with Severn Grove Landscaping and Magnolia Plumbing to clean out rocks and silt, rebuild swales where necessary, replace filter paper, and clean out culverts.

Creek Drive has been completed. Washington Drive at the boat ramp is approved and work should be done within the next ten days.

The Shore Drive proposal is pending but OHCA is hoping that work will done by the end of the year and will be a quick fix to get us through the next couple of months.

Celebrate Environmental Holiday Spirit
Lots of Volunteer Help is Needed to Plant a Rain Garden

Saturday, December 19, 9 a.m. until done
(Even an hour or two will help)

Project:
Construct a major Bioretention Cell/Swale - Rain Garden system. Phase 1 of multiple phases to restore a wetland area and mitigate storm water runoff issues destroying Fishing Creek. It's a holiday present to the Chesapeake Bay!

The cell will infiltrate 1,495 cubic feet of runoff a day, and will deal with a 1.75-inch storm, giving an infiltration runoff volume reduction of over 38%.

Tasks:
Move biosoil mix into excavated bioswale and biocell (didn't have enough money for contractor to do it). Lots of wheel-barrowing!
Plant of 700 native trees, shrubs, perennials, ferns, grasses.
Complete biocell diaphragm, intakes, and overflow systems.

Wear old clothes, boots, gloves, - it's messy. Bring tools, wheelbarrows, if you have them.

Directions:
From Arundel on the Road, turn right onto Harbor Road. Go one block and make a right onto Creek Drive. Go a block to the work site on the right at Boris home, 1262 Creek Drive.

Vote to Change the Charter of Oyster Harbor

In the last newsletter and on the OHCA web you will find an opportunity to vote to change the charter of Oyster Harbor. We need to change the charter to allow us to develop, buy and sell property and to potentially raise a mortgage.

Many residents and property owners over the past several years have expressed interest in developing the community's lot on Harbor Road; others have talked about selling it to give the community the opportunity to invest in purchasing other property. In addition, we've heard several residents inquire about our ability to "buy" a home here in the community and use it for a clubhouse. None of these options can be pursued, however, until we, as a community, change the county tax charter.

Your board is unanimous in urging you to sign the form and return it to our community manager as soon as possible. I stress that signing the form will give our community an opportunity to develop more facilities but absolutely does not commit us to any expenditure or decisions on expenditures-no decisions can be made without OHCA approval.

Click here to download the petition, print it out, fill it in and mail to our office manager at the address on the form.

It costs the community quite a bit of money to print and mail the OHCA newsletters.

Please consider agreeing to receive your newsletter via email instead. If this is agreeable to you, please send an email to our office manager and include your name and the address of your Oyster Harbor property or properties.

Also, we don't have email addresses for all of our property owners. If you know of anyone who is not receiving these emails, please ask them to sign up by clicking on the box that can be found at the bottom of every page of our website.
