H1N1 Swine Flu Vaccination Update
Currently the County appointments for Swine Flu vaccinations are filled.
However, As more vaccine becomes available, the Anne Arundel County Department of Health plans to provide free H1N1 flu nasal spray and injectable vaccine by appointment only to County residents who are in targeted priority groups.
The priority groups, currently recommended by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, for the H1N1 flu vaccine are:
- pregnant women;
- people who live with or provide care for infants less than 6 months old;
- health care and emergency medical services personnel;
- people 6 months through 24 years old; and
- people aged 25-64 who have chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems.
People who are pregnant and people with chronic health disorders or with compromised immune systems can only get the injectable flu vaccine.
As more vaccine becomes available, the Department of Health will schedule additional clinics around the County, including some in school buildings.
