Remembering Carr's Beach
Sunday, June 28 2-8 p.m.
Some
of the "old timers" in the community will remember the glory days of
Carr's Beach, the stellar African-American entertainment venue where
stars like Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder and others played to the delight
of hundreds. Carr's Beach is no more -- the location is now the home of
the Chesapeake Harbour community off Edgewood Road.
This Sunday,
Sam's on the Waterfront, the restaurant at Chesapeake Harbour, will
bring back the memories of Carr's Beach with a historic music festival
featuring Mama Jama, the Clones of Funk, and the Pipe Dreamers, among others. The event benefits two great causes too, We Care and Friends and the Annapolis Youth Services Bureau.
