Once
again the fire department was called to Oyster Harbor today, shortly
after noon. The second floor of the house was engulfed, but thankfully,
everyone escaped without injury.
The fire department successfully drafted water from Oyster
Creek (at the Booker Street Marina) to fight the fire. Everything
seemed to go smoothly. Water began flowing onto the fire within two
minutes of the pumpers' arrival.

There were units from all over the
area fighting the fire and standing by in reserve. Ironically, the
units from our own Station 8 were not present because they were on a
call, possibly involving a boat fire, in South County. Station 8 is the
fire department's primary marine response unit.
As
this is being written the fire department is still putting out the last
of the embers, so we have few details. We will have a full report as
soon as the information is available.
