Board Update
November 2009—Elections were held on September 22nd and we have a great team of officers, board members, and committee heads in place! Board priorities for the year include:
- Conducting infrastructure surveys to help us understand estimated life expectancy of bulkheads, fishing piers, boat ramps, new asphalting, etc. This, in turn, will help us understand how much money we need to set aside for future projects.
- Continuing to focus on long term planning, particularly with regards to development and use of community property and projecting budget needs for capital expenses.
- Changing the county tax charter to allow us to develop and purchase property – this will be a long process (we need petition approval of 51% of property owners!) but one that will greatly benefit the community and allow us more latitude and flexibility in our long term planning.
It’s an exciting time for OHCA and I’m proud to be a part of the group moving us forward. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email manager@oysterharbor.org.
